Gamal Maxamed Xasan, the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, today held a productive meeting with representatives from Somalia’s industrial sector. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and focused on strengthening cooperation between the government and the country’s industrial community in order to accelerate economic growth and enhance domestic production.
The Minister was accompanied by Maxamed Abukar Shariif, State Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Hawo Axmed Xasan, Director General of the Somali Standards Authority.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on ways to strengthen collaboration between the government and the country’s industries in order to create a business environment that supports industrial development and encourages private sector investment growth. Government officials and industry representatives also discussed the importance of developing policies that promote industrial expansion and increase local production.
Key topics discussed during the meeting included the establishment of industrial zones, addressing the challenges facing Somalia’s industrial sector, and improving infrastructure that supports industrial growth. Particular attention was also given to enhancing capacity-building programs and strengthening the skills of industry stakeholders in order to improve competitiveness in local production and create more employment opportunities.
Minister Gamal Maxamed Xasan emphasized the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to developing the country’s industrial sector and creating a business environment that attracts both domestic and foreign investment. He noted that the government places special importance on supporting local industries because of their major role in driving economic growth, increasing production, and generating new jobs.
For their part, representatives of the industrial sector highlighted both the challenges and opportunities within the industry and praised the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen relations between the government and the private sector. They also expressed their readiness to work closely with the government in order to achieve sustainable industrial development.
The meeting forms part of the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to improve the country’s business environment, strengthen economic growth, increase domestic production, and reinforce the important role of the private sector in Somalia’s economic development.
