The Somalia Productivity and Resilience through Inclusive and Non-traditional Growths (SPRING) project is a critical vehicle for private sector development.
Subcomponent 1.1 Focus: This segment typically targets the strengthening of the entrepreneurship ecosystem. With an allocated USD 11 million, it aims to reduce barriers for startups and SMEs by improving access to technical assistance and institutional support.
Key Objective: To enhance the capacity of local intermediaries to deliver high-quality business support, ensuring SMEs are “investment-ready.”
The integration with Gargaara (Somalia’s apex MSME financing facility) creates a seamless transition from capacity building to capital access.
The Incubator Pathway: This serves as a funnel where SMEs receive intensive BDS—covering financial management, governance, and business planning.
Bridge to Finance: Once an SME completes the incubator pathway, they are better positioned to meet the credit requirements of Gargaara’s participating financial institutions (PFIs).
