Hon. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi is the current Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia. Previously, Hon Jibril served as a member of Parliament between 2016 and 2022 a period during which he served with enthusiasm, diligence, and dedication that earned him the trust of his constituents who made him to be re-elected and represent them for another term (2022- 2026).

Hon Jibril brings on board vast experience in Governance, Leadership, Legislation, Business Administration, Trade, and Finance.

Prior to his current appointment to spearhead the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, he was a secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on Information, Publicity, Culture, Posts, and Telecommunications. And also in his early years, he served in different positions for the Somali government including the Director of Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Government of Somalia.

Furthermore, Hon. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi worked as a lecturer at the University of Somalia’s School of Business Administration in the areas of Public Finance, Management, Leadership, and Human Resource Management.  On the other hand, the honorable worked with Towfiiq Umbrella which involved in humanitarian activities focusing on relief, peace, and development activities in Somalia.

Academically Hon Jibril holds a Bachelor of Arts (Business Management) from the  University of Nairobi, Kenya, and  Managerial Accounting at ACCA. He is a bilingual individual who speaks fluency in  Somali, English, and Arabic Languages.
