The Ministers of Commerce and Planning Discussed Their Collaborative Areas and Promoting Somalia’s Investment

The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Jibril Abdirashid Haji has today received in his office the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development FGS, Hon. Mohamud Abdirahman Beene Beene. Where they discussed their collaborative areas of interest, for the development and investment promotion of Somalia especially in terms of laws, policies, and strategies for promoting Somalia’s investment.

The Ministerial meeting was accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Abdiaziz Ibrahim Adan who is also the chairman of the Foreign Investment Board of Somalia. The Director of the Investment Promotion Department of the Ministry of Planning Mr. Mohamed Dhuboow was also present at the meeting. Both Ministries have agreed to work together on the upcoming Somalia International Investment conference, which will take place in Mogadishu on 28-29 November 2022.

The Ministers have underlined that there are a lot of business and investment opportunities in Somalia that need to be addressed by the government to encourage international and local investors to invest in Somalia. This will produce businesses, economic growth, and job creation. Finally, the two ministers noted their commitment to incentivizing investment in the country.
