The Minister of Commerce and Industry at the Federal Government of Somalia Hon. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi witnessed today on 11th October 2022 the handover ceremony of the new Director General of the Somali Bureau of Standards Mr. Ali Yasin Gurbiye and his predecessor Mr. Adan Adde.
The Minister thanked the former Director General and his deputy Director General Mr. Aidarous Mo’alim for their endeavors towards the establishment and developments they made during their tenure and also, and he thanked them for the time they have worked together with honesty, commitment, and a lot of developments were reached.
Hon. Jibril Abdirashid Haji also welcomed the newly appointed Director General Mr. Ali Yasin Gurbiye by the President of Somalia H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and his new Deputy Director General Hawo Ahmed Hassan appointed by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre.
The Minister has gone on in his speech about the importance of the Somali Bureau of Standards (SoBS) in protecting the safety of consumers from harmful and substandard products imported to Somalia, and also the need for establishing a robust quality infrastructure for Somalia (standards, metrology, accreditation, and conformity assessment) to promote export through standards harmonization.
